Information for Summer 2017

Posted on Posted in News

Greetings brothers,

We are about to embark on an exciting summer for our lodge! This message contains several important updates on what you need to know. First off, we recently had a historic Executive Committee Meeting this past Sunday. At this meeting, our bylaws were revised and the traditional three flap system will be returning (be sure to attend the Cookout to be among the first Arrowmen to purchase these flaps)!

Our first “Historian’s Report” was assembled, which you can check out here:

Secondly, all youth Arrowmen in the lodge are highly encouraged to sign up for a lodge committee. Each committee plays a vital role for the lodge and it’s a great way to stay active and represent your chapter. Chapter Chiefs, please spread the word and ensure your Chapter is represented on as many committees as possible. Our Vice Chief of Communications, Nolan Worthy, has been hard at work and some new publications are HOT off the press! You can find our summer edition of the Little Carpenter here: http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/Little-Carpenter-Summer-2017.pdf

Perhaps the coolest publication is our brand new Planbook that will be given out to new Ordeal members this summer:http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/2017-Planbook-Final.pdf

Without a doubt, one of our biggest priorities as a lodge right now is boosting our Brotherhood conversion. We aim to have as many eligible brothers as possible go through Brotherhood induction on Tuesday evenings this summer and to GET THEIR BARS! The cost is $20 and as an incentive, new Brotherhood members will be the FIRST to receive the new green-bordered Brotherhood flaps that are returning. If you’ve been an Ordeal member for ten months, don’t miss the opportunity to seal your membership this summer! One way everyone can provide crucial service this summer is by serving as an Elangomat during the Ordeals each week. You can register now online (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScTZALFjC5zWVXbqQE0anmFWONVSMhnaF5zR5kGtEDvvFBzyg/viewform) and if you serve at two separate Ordeals, you will earn the RARE and brand new Elangomat flap. For a sneak preview on your role as an Elangomat, check out the AKK Elangomat Handbook here:http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/AKK-Elangomat-Guidebook.pdf

Scoutmasters and any other Whippoorwills, curious about the OA program at camp this summer? Here’s all of the info you need in this convenient Scoutmaster Breakdown: http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/Order-of-the-Arrow-Breakdown-for-Scoutmasters.pdf

To all unit leaders and chapter advisers of the lodge, please find a POST-ORDEAL letter for parents of new Ordeal members. This letter should be emailed and/or directly handed to the parents after each Ordeal induction. The new Ordeal members will also receive this in their packets. http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/Parent-Ordeal-Letter-2017.pdf

Do you have Scouts who aren’t attending COI Summer Camp but need to go through Ordeal? This next document is for you! http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/Instructions-for-Non-Campers.pdf

Finally, we highly encourage all brothers of Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge to come out to Camp Old Indian on June 28th for our annual Lodge Cookout and Vigil Honor Callout! Right now before June 16th, you can take advantage of the Whippoorwill early-bird fee of $15 so be sure to register soon! Be sure to promote with our flyer (http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/Cookout-Flyer-1.pdf) and to register, here’s the form: http://akk185.org/wp-content/uploads/2017-Registration-Form-4.pdf

With excitement for the summer,

Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge #185 Officers
