AIA Update

AUAHello Brothers! I’m Tucker Shealy, your 2014-2015 Vice Chief of American Indian Activities! One of my huge goals as VCAIA is to build up interest in the Indian Affairs program!

For those of you who are unsure as to what the AIA team does, we have several different committees:
-We have a group dance team that performs Cherokee group dances. We perform these at fellowships, at Summer Camp, and as a part of a competition at the Dixie Fellowship.
-We also have an individual dance program, where dancers perform one of several different styles of Pow-Wow dance.
-To accompany our Dance Team, we have a drum/sing team that performs in the Southern Plains style and Cherokee.
-Finally, we have our ceremonies team, which all of you have seen at least twice. This team is a core area of American Indian Activities and of the lodge. We practice and perform every ceremony conducted for the lodge.

We need your help! If any of these committees sound interesting to you, you should definitely plan on attending the AIA recruiting meeting we’ll be holding on Sunday, October 12th, 2014. The meeting will start at 3:00 PM and will end at around 5:00 PM at The Easley First Baptist Church (300 East 1st Ave., Easley, SC.) It will be a great opportunity for you to get involved with the AIA team, as well as meet new friends in the lodge! Parents are welcome to stay to see what you will be participating in if they wish.

If you’re already a member of the AIA team and can at all make it, please attend and bring a friend! If you haven’t been involved before but would like to be, please show up!

If you plan on attending, please send me an email atakk185vcaia@gmail.com if you cannot make it, we will be having meetings on a regular basis. Just let me know so I can put you on the Email list!

I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

Yours in WWW,

Tucker Shealy
